Summary
The new FX/Hulu sports docudramaClippedfeatures a wide range of current and former NBA players. WhileClippedis technically a period piece set during the turbulent 2013-2014 NBA season,several of the players depicted in the series are still active in the NBA today. The series takes a deep dive behind the scenes into the notorious scandal involving former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his unusual relationship with a personal assitant/mistress/self-proclaimed “silly rabbit” V. Stiviano. The Hulu original series is based on thetrue story of Donald Sterlingas the ESPN 30 for 30 podcastThe Sterling Affairs.

The miniseries was created by Gina Wench, who has written for other notable Hulu original series such asCastle Rock,based on the location found in many Stephen King novels, and the Emmy-winningFeudco-created by Ryan Murphy. Much of the first two episodes ofClippedtakes place during theClippers series against the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs.
15Chris Paul

Chris Paul has played 19 seasons in the NBAand is currently a member of the Golden State Warriors. He was named the 2005-06 NBA Rookie of the Year as a member of the New Orleans Hornets, where he played until he was traded to the Clippers in 2011. As depicted inClipped, Paul was arguably the best player on the team and naturally took a leadership role, which was reinforced by the arrival of Doc Rivers as the team’s head coach. Rivers would lead Paul and the Clippers in six out of his seven seasons with the team. Between 2017 and 2023, Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Phoenix Suns before landing in San Francisco.
14Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin was drafted as the first overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers and emerged as the face of their franchise. He, like Paul, was also named Rookie of the Year, which actually ended up being in his second season due to a season-ending knee injury he endured in his first season.Griffin played for the Clippers until 2018 before getting traded to the Detroit Pistons, where he played until 2021. Griffin’s final two seasons in the NBA were as part of the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics before he retired at the end of the 2023 season. Griffin is also an NBA Slam Dunk champion and has interests in acting and stand-up comedy.
13JJ Redick

JJ Redick was one of the most prolific college basketball players to have ever played at Duke University under the legendary Coach Krzyzewski. Known for his sharpshooting skills behind the arc, Redick played a total of 15 NBA seasons after being drafted as the eleventh overall pick in 2006 by the Orlando Magic. Redick played for the Magic until 2013 when he was traded to the Milwaukee, where his on court performance suffered. As depicted in Winning Time, newly instated head coach Doc Rivers brought Redick to Los Angeles, where he became an integral part of the team.Redick will announce the 2024 NBA Finals alongside Doris Burke and Mike Breenand is currently being eyed for a head coaching position for the Los Angeles Lakers.
12DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan was drafted in the second round by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008, where he played for ten seasons. Under the leadership of Doc River, Jordan emerged as one of the best centers in the NBA, known for his blocking and rebounding. To this day,Jordan still holds the all-time Clippers record in reboundswith a total of 7,988. Jordan was named an NBA All-Star in 2017 before getting traded the following season to the Dallas Mavericks. Since 2019, Jordan has played for five different NBA organizations and was a member of the Denver Nuggets, who won the 2023 NBA Championship.
11Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis

Glen Davis, also known by his nickname “Big Baby”, played for Doc Rivers on the 2008 Boston Celtics team that won the organization’s first NBA Title since 1986. Davis was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft but was traded to Boston along with Ray Allen soon after.Davis played for Boston until 2011, when he was traded to the Orlando Magic, where he played until the middle of the 2013-2014 NBA season. The Magic bought out Davis' contract, making him a free agent, which is how he ended up back playing for Rivers for the Clippers in what would become his final NBA season.
10Matt Barnes

Matt Barnes was drafted in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft and first signed with the Clippers in the middle of the 2003-2004 NBA season. Barnes moved around quite a bit during his fourteen NBA seasons,playing for nine separate organizations, including the Kings, Knicks, 76ers, Warriors, Suns, and Magic. Barnes played for the Lakers from 2010 to 2012 before joining the Clippers at the start of the 2012-2013 season. He played for the Clippers until 2015 and retired as an NBA Champion as a member of the Golden State Warriors. He currently works as an NBA analyst for ESPN.
9Steph Curry

Steph Curry is arguably the best three point shooter in the history of the NBA. He’s depicted in Clipped during the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs, which the Clippers would ultimately win. However, the following year would give birth to one of the best franchise playoff runs in NBA history, asCurry led the Warriors to NBA Championships in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. Curry set the NBA record for 3-pointers made in 2021, breaking Ray Allen’s previous record of 2,973. Curry has currently made a total of 3,747 three pointers, a record that is still counting, and will likley not be broken for a very long time, if ever. Curry was drafted by the Warriors in 2009 and has never left.
8Draymond Green

Like Curry, Draymond Green was drafted by the Golden State Warriors and has remained a loyal part of the organization ever since. He was an integral member of all four of the Warriors recent NBA Championships and was named an NBA All-Star four times. As depicted inClipped,Green is known for being an intimidating and outspoken forceon the basketball court. In 2022, he even got into an altercation with his own teammate at that time, Jordan Poole. Green’s intense energy has become his calling card for the Warriors, which is what makes fans love him. Green also guest hosts on TNT’s award-winning showInside the NBA.
7Klay Thompson
The other half of the “Splash Bros” along with Curry, Klay Thompson is an iconic figure on the Warriors who is also celebrated for his sharpshooting skills behind the arc. Like Curry and Green,Thompson has spent his entire career as a member of the Warriorsand has played a major role in all four of their recent championships. While there is some discussion about whether Thompson will continue to stay on the Warriors following the 2023-24 season, he is undoubtedly one of the most significant players to ever wear a Warriors jersey. He is only briefly depicted in Clipped during the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs.
6Andre Iguodala
Andre Iguodala played 19 seasons in the NBA before retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Iguodala was drafted in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played until 2012. He would play one season with the Denver Nuggerts before joining the Warriors in 2013 and becoming a key part of their four championships and modern dynasty. Considered a crucial off the bench player,Iguodala made history when he was named the 2015 NBA Finals MVP, becoming the first NBA player to ever win the award and not start a single game of the regular season. Iguodala’s lock-down defense was noted as a huge part of the Warriors' Finals success.
