Battlefield 6 doesn’t scare Activision as Call of Duty is “too big to fail”: Report

Battlefield 6is heating up online, stealing player attention and topping pre-order charts. But Activision reportedly isn’t breaking a sweat.

Battlefield 6 looks like it could beCall of Duty’s most serious competition in years, as EA’s upcoming shooter is bringing back the formula that once defined the series: massive-scale warfare, class-based squads, grounded settings, and destruction that actually matters.

Battlefield vs COD

With Call of Duty losing some of its core audience to annual fatigue andflashy cosmetics, Battlefield is promising a return to form that’s winning over old fans and new players alike.

But behind the scenes, Activision doesn’t seem fazed. According to a new report, the company isn’t worried about Battlefield’s momentum and sees no real threat to its FPS dominance.

Activision reportedly not worried about Battlefield 6

According toInsider Gaming, Activision leadership isn’t worried about Battlefield’s return. While they are monitoring the game’s growing hype, sources say the publisher sees Call of Duty as “too big to fail.”

Black Ops 7is still on track for a late 2025 release, and additional annual COD entries are already planned through 2029. The company expects Call of Duty to remain one of gaming’s most profitable and consistent franchises.

Battlefield vs COD

Both Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 will reportedly feature slightlyfuturistic settings, which means they will launch targeting a similar player base. Activision doesn’t expect that overlap to impact its success.

Battlefield 6 is riding a wave of goodwill. After themess that was Battlefield 2042, this new entry feels like a true course correction. Players are excited about the classic Battlefield experience.

Battlefield 6 jumped to the top of Steam wishlists and trended across social media after its reveal. EA is clearly aiming to fill the AAA shooter gap left by GTA 6’s delay, and it’s working. Nearly 500,000 players are already lined up on Steam for thebeta, and console interest is climbing fast.

Call of Duty, on the other hand, is losing ground. Black Ops 6 launched strong, but Steam player counts have plummeted by over 80 percent since its November 2024 release. Social media is full of frustration. Long-time fans are tired of bugs, weak anti-cheat, aggressive monetization, and skins that break immersion. Warzone still draws millions, but the overall vibe is muted compared to previous years.

Battlefield 6 won’t dethrone Call of Duty overnight. But if both franchises focus on quality and respond to community feedback, the FPS genre could be in for a much-needed revival.
