Bungie has shaken up Destiny 2 massively with theEpisode Revenantupdate, and here’s the rundown on the patch notes detailing all of the changes.
Developers Bungie are constantly adding new content for Guardians to try out. This includes major expansions likeThe Final Shape, which saw huge changes to the sandbox with the introduction ofPrismatic subclasses, and a brand new story thatconcluded the Light and Dark sagaonce and for all.

Now with the oncoming arrival of Revenant Act 1, the developers have continued this form, adding a heap ofnew weapons,artifact mods, and a whole host ofbuffs and nerfsto the sandbox.

Episode Revenant will be released onTuesday, July 19, 2025, at10 AM PTafter theweekly reset, kickstarting Act 1 of the new season.
New Seasonal Story
Revenant moves away entirely from the Vex focus of Echoes and instead has usfight against Fikrul and his army of Scorn. The Master of Souls wants to evolve the Scorn into a higher being, so you’ll need to team up with Mithrax and Eido to put a stop to his plan.
Bungie has described this season’s story as “metal,”with it promising to deliver a more sinister tone than last season. To help with that, anew enemy called the Revenant Baronhas been introduced, which will provide a unique challenge that you’ll have to adapt to.

As for when you’ll be able to play the content,the entirety of Act 1 is available right away. Unlike past seasons, the story isn’t being released weekly anymore, so feel free to grab your fireteam and experience everything on offer on day one.

Onslaught Salvation
After its massively popular reception in Into The Light, Onslaught has gotten an overhaul in Episode Revenant. Now rebranded Onslaught Salvation, the new version featuresthree new maps: Eventide Labs, Kell’s Grave, and Widow’s Court.
The mode’s buyable upgrades have been updated too, with anew mountable turretandan airstrike that you can call inboth being added. Bungie has alsoreworked the Tripwiresto be more impactful, as they can now debuff enemies and deal even more damage.
Shiny weapons are also making a return, with Masterworked versions of seasonal weapons being up for grabs. As before, these shiny variants will roll multiple perks in each column, massively boosting your odds of finding god rolls.
Potion Crafting – Tonic buffs
Potion crafting is one of the biggest additions to Episode Revenant. This new mechanic lets you create tonics that provide a variety of gameplay buffs, withVolatile Tonics boosting combatandEnriching Tonics boosting loot.
Some potions make your artifact stronger, others increase your DPS, and some even make it possible to farm weapons that would otherwise be very difficult to get. It’s no exaggeration to say that Tonics will fundamentally change how you play, so be sure to brew your finest concoctions.
