Summary

Dragon Agefans should get ready for June 11 as Bioware has confirmed the first proper look at the latest entry in the franchise. The title was previously revealed asDragon Age: Dreadwolfin 2022 alongside a new logo, and seemed to be a nod to Solas, a magical party member and potential love interest inDragon Age: Inquisitionwho the studio had beenheavily promoting in past posts, butthe game has now been renamedDragon Age: The Veilguard.

As revealed in an official blog post,BioWare’s anticipated RPG will have its first gameplay reveal covering over 15 minutes from the opening moments of the game. This will be onTuesday, June 11th at 8:00 am PT on theDragon AgeYouTube channel. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as the studio previously teased as part of itsDragon AgeDay celebrations in December 2023 that the new game in the series would be fully revealed sometime in the Summer, and this gameplay reveal will come shortly after the other game showcases held as part of the Summer Game Fest.

BioWare Has Announced More Details About The Next Dragon Age

In a further interview withIGN, BioWare confirmed thatThe Veilguard will feature seven party membersand will combine “fun and fluid, moment-to-moment combat” with strategic gameplay through the unique powers of each companion. It’s also worth noting that despite the new name change, BioWare general manager Gary McKay explained that Solas is “still very much a part of the story" with the BioWare blog confirming he has an important part to play in the tale, but the title now reflects the “deep and compelling group of companions” instead.

Each of theseven unique companionsis confirmed to have deep and compelling storylines, where players' decisions will impact their relationships with them and their lives. These companions are described as being “the heart of this new experience.“Dragon Age: The Veilguardwill see this team united by the players' unique hero to take on a “terrifying new threat” unleashed on the world, although details about what this threat may be is being kept under wraps, likely until June 11, but inDragon Age, the Veil is the magical barrier that separates the normal world from the mystical Fade, so it seems to be hinting at players getting to form some kind of defensive team for this.

Considering how fans have been waiting years for the nextDragon Ageentry, these 15 minutes of gameplay can’t come soon enough. While it is only from the opening moments, hopefully it will be enough to set up the story and some of these new companions to further show players why the name change was so crucial.
