Star Wars: Hunters - Release Date, Platforms, Characters, & Gameplay

Zynga’s Star Wars: Hunters finally has a release date after years of delays. Here’s everything we know about the game so far.

Lightsaber

The idea of playing as a droid who believes he is a Jedi may sound fun, and with abilities such as the spinning Whirlwind Ultimate attack, and Faux Pull, which pulls in enemies to close the distance, this is the closestStar Wars: Huntershas to having a Jedi on the team. Unfortunately, when compared to a real Force user like the insanely powerful Dark Side assassin Rieve, J-3DI does fall down. The passive Spare Parts ability is a novel idea, however, asJ-3DI can easily be healed by players who have come across any scraps that fell off him as he takes damage, but ultimately, this can feel like a bit of a chore for other teammates having to patch the droid up.

Pulse Blaster and Arc Caster

Various Star Wars bounty hunters

Utooni is made up oftwo Jawas standing atop one another, and while this seems like a novel and funny idea, in practice, it’s not as great as some of the other characters in the game. Utooni’s weapons, such as the Pulse Blaster, Arc Caster, and Scrap Cannon, are decent, but when in close combat, the Hands Off move can be frustrating as it also staggers Utooni rather than just knocking back enemies, and the fact Utooni’s passive attack is more to do with them being eliminated, it’s clear that they were always considered to be one of the weaker characters inStar Wars: Hunters.

Scatter Gun

Charr is certainly a character for a specific type of player, but not one everyone will find the easiest to come to grips with straight away.Charr is a Tank, with heavy melee attacks and abilities that can make him practically invincible, but the idea is that he can also be used in a tactical manner and that rather than charging into battle like the stronger Tank characters like Grozz or Sentinel, Charr can also plant traps around the arena somewhat like a Support character to hold enemies in place.

Dart Gun

Skora’s Dart gun can be used on both enemies and allies, providing different uses depending on who its shot at that can prove lethal or life-saving. As a support character, Skora can buff herself with healing or speed boosts, or can provide health to her allies. Skora is definitely an asset on the team for sure, but there are better picks from the Support class who can prove to be useful in more ways in the arena.

Blaster Rifle

Imara Vex is a well-balanced character, offering both offense and defense, andher abilities largely revolve around her ability totrack down her opponents as a bounty hunter. While her grapple helps her get around the arena quickly, it’s her barrage of missiles that can seek enemies that make her a character to be reckoned with.

10 Best Star Wars Games That Let You Play As A Bounty Hunter

Between The Mandalorian and Boba Fett, bounty hunters are the coolest part of Star Wars. In many franchise games, players can become one themselves.

Twin Blaster Cannons

Slingshot, is an extremely versatile Tank-type character, being able to stun enemies around him by charging them down or unleashing his shockwave-esque Rocket Stomp Ultimate attack. Unlike some other tanks, Slingshot can be extremely fast when unshielded, getting around the map with ease, and when shielded, can take even more damage to make him harder to kill. As a bonus, the shield can detonate when destroyed, dealing further damage to nearby enemies.

Dual Blaster Pistols

Aran Tal is one of the only characters not available duringStar Wars: Hunters' soft launch, butthe Mandalorian Vanguard can be unlocked through the Arena Pass, and is certainly worth it.Aran Tal’s jetpack makes for an extremely powerful character, as he can quickly dodge attacks and use it to deal high levels of damage. While Aran Tal’s main weapons are his Dual Blasters, his jetpack is highly effective both on the ground and when combined with his jetpack when unleashing his Ultimate ability, Fury of Clan Tal to douse whole areas of the arena in flames.

Improvised Clubs

Grozz is a force to be reckoned with and definitelythe strongest of the melee-focused characters, with an impressive amount of health and the ability to charge through entire groups of enemies and clear paths with ease.Any who get near to the Wookie can easily get stunned if he unleashes his Upheaval shockwave attack, making it easy for other teammates to pick them off. That’s not to say Grozz isn’t completely ineffective at range either, as his Ultimate ability sees him throwing a giant boulder that can bounce around the arena to further take down enemies at a distance, and his War Cry can come in handy if he’s taken ranged damage as it instantly restores a chunk of his health,

Blaster Remotes

Sprocket is a solid all-rounder when it comes to Support and is certainly an asset to any team. Not only isSprocket able to buff teammateswith his Drone Defense to reduce incoming damage, but he can also send in further droids and drones to heal allies and increase damage dealt to enemies. In the case of the Targeting Drone in particular, this is a great tool as it not only increases damage but also helps players spot enemies across the arena, and when paired with Sprocket’s Ultimate ability, Ultra Turret, it can prove to be devastating for opponents.

Slugthrower rifle

Star Wars Hunters Is Just Star Wars Overwatch

Diego’s focus on ranged attacks makes him a great foil for some of the most powerful characters inStar Wars: Hunters, so long as they don’t close the distance and get near to him. Diego’s gameplay is more strategic, as players should use his heightened senses to detect incoming enemies and plant proximity mines before grappling away to deal damage with some well-placed shots from his Slugthrower rifle. These shots can be even more brutal when using Diago’s Ultimate ability, as this fires piercing rounds that can pass through enemies entirely, potentially taking out multiple opponents with minimal shots if lined up right.

Is Star Wars: Hunters Basically Star Wars Overwatch

With their team-based, online multiplayer elements and focus on hero fighters, Star Wars Hunters and Overwatch appear to have a lot in common.
