Summary
A classicGenshin Impactcharacter may finally become available according to new Natlan leaks. The action RPG has a wide roster of characters that have been introduced during its four years, but not all of them are currently playable, as some have been kept as NPCs – at least for the time being. One such example is Dainleif, an enigmatic character whose recurrent appearances have not yet resulted in him becoming playable. Now, with therelease of Natlan inGenshin Impactapproaching quickly, leaks about Version 5.0 and beyond are starting to emerge, and one character may finally be released.
According to information obtained by the leakers Full Stop Chan and HXG, which was then shared to a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit,Madame Ping may finally become playable in next year’s Lantern Rite. Based on the game’s regular schedule, it is likely the event will occur in Version 5.4 at some point in early 2025. The leak also mentions that the playable version of Madame Ping will use a polearm in battles, which is expected to be good for Xiao due to its rumored 88% CRIT DMG sub-stat inGenshin Impact.

I’ve Been Playing Genshin Impact Since Launch & Can No Longer Recommend It
The popular action RPG by HoYoverse is getting larger with each expansion, but its overload of content is not its main problem: it’s farming.
Madame Ping’s Leaked Release In Genshin Impact Has Long Been Rumored
The Character May Become Available In Her Streetward Rambler Form
While the possibility of Madame Ping becoming playable has long been discussed, the focused release window for her creates hope that she may actually make the cut, even if four years after her debut alongside the release of the game itself. Madame Ping’s story was explored over the past years with more information regarding her humanoid Adeptus form known as Streetward Rambler. So far, the game has not introduced a playable character with an elderly body model, so it is very likely that,if the leak is true, the young version of Streetward Rambler will become playableinGenshin Impact.
“The possible release of a playable Madame Ping could also mean more story quests centered around Streetward Rambler.”

Something similar happened with Cloud Retainer, who was first introduced as an animal-shaped NPCand then her humanoid form was showcased in an illustration during 2023’s Lantern Rite Festival. During this year’s Lantern Rite, the human form of the Adeptus, known as Xianyun, was released. With the base character concept for Streetward Rambler nearly ready and already showcased to players, it truly seems like a matter of time before Madame Ping is added as a playable character, andGenshin Impact’s annual Lantern Rite is the perfect moment for that to occur.
Every year during the Lantern Rite, the game’s focus steers away from the main Nation that was introduced that year and returns to Liyue, where festivities occur and players often get a gleam of the past, especially due to how often they interact with the long-life adepti. In past years, players found out that Madame Ping took on an elderly humanoid form to live among civilization as a means to cope with the loss of her dear friend and fellow adeptus Guizhong. If the rumors are true, more story-focused content around Streetward Rambler inGenshin Impactshould also be added.
Version 5.4 is still far away and there is time for a lot of changes regarding the leaks, including a delay in the character’s release, if the leaks are true to begin with.
As is the case with any leak, the information should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, the prospect of another playable adeptus shows just how much HoYoverse cares about Liyue and its history and the rumors of her signature polearm offering a staggering amount of CRIT DMG may truly be great for Xiao, giving extra relevance to the yaksha who saw a return to the spotlight following the release ofXianyun inGenshin Impactearlier this year.
