Making his debut in 1972, fans were introduced to stuntman Johnny Blaze, who, after making a deal with the devil Mephisto, was bonded to the demon Zarathos, leading him to a lifetime of collecting souls,Penance Staring sinners, and riding around on a flaming motorcycle with his skull similarly aflame. Having multiple versions of the character in Earth-616 continuity proper — like Robbie Reyes orthe brand new Hellverine character—the Marvel Universe is also host to powerful Ghost Rider variants, like Cosmic Ghost Rider, with BossLogic’s Knight Rider being the perfect addition to Ghost Rider ranks.

Set against the backdrop of a battlefield burning to the ground, BossLogic positions Knight Rider at the center of the frame as the lone survivor of this slaughter, his back turned to viewers as his spiked black armor crackles with flame. Giving Knight Rider a flaming broadsword that he holds tight in his hand, BossLogic adds a few abandoned swords stuck in the dirt in the foreground of the image as well as a pool of fire surrounding Knight Rider, giving the scene a dark and gritty edge that makes this fanart-exclusive Ghost Rider variant a sight to behold.

Medieval Ghost Rider Gets A Flaming Sword and Armor In New Fanart Redesign

Though it’s unclear who might be under the armored helmet of BossLogic’s (@bosslogic) Spirit of Vengeance, the idea thatsome overpowered version of Ghost Riderwas exacting their brand of justice centuries ago is an interesting one, making a case for giving Knight Rider a mini-series or, at the very least, a cameo somewhere within Marvel’s sprawling multiverse. Whether traveling on a motorcycle, riding a horse, driving in a car, or fighting as a knight, Ghost Rider always gets a redesign worthy of the character, with this Medieval take on the hero being no exception.
