The Hermit Village is a hard-to-find location inElden Ring. It’s a loot-rich place that is worth the effort to reach. Some of this loot comes from an optional Field Boss, Demi-Human Queen Maggie, who enters the fight with various sorcerers as support. Past this boss, you’ll encounter the one NPC of the area who offers a potent sorcery connected to Sellen’s quest line.
Hermit Village is located on the southeastern edge of the volcano, but you can’t just hook a left past Sage’s Cave to reach it, as it sits far overhead. If you want to reach this area, you’ll have to embark on a long and winding path that starts near the Erdtree-Gazing Hill.

How To Reach Hermit Village
Which Path To Use
The main path to Hermit Village inElden Ringinvolveslooping around Mt. Gelmirfrom the southeast by the ravine underneath Hermit Village. The best starting point for this long journey isSeethewater River, a Site of Grace that marks the start of the ravine. From this point, the ravine will take younorth along the eastern edgeof Mt. Gelmir. Turn west once you reachSeethewater Caveand continue along the volcano’s edge until you reach the lava pool with theMagma Wyrm boss battle.
It’s easier to reach Hermit Village if you have the Mt. Gelmir andAtlus Plateau map fragments inElden Ringso you’re able to see the path you have to take around the volcano.
You don’t have to fight the Magma Wyrm to get to Hermit Village. Just loop around it and continue south toHermit’s Shack. When you get there, you’ll finally turn east and head under an overpass to reachCraftman’s Shack. Just be prepared for a bear ambush at the overpass. From this point, it’s a straight shot northeast of Hermit Village.

Everything You Can Find
If you want to get all the best loot in Hermit Village, you’ll need to faceDemi-Human Queen Maggie. She can be found a bit northeast of the village, and numerous Glintstone Sorcerers are assisting her. Her most significant weaknesses are Fire, Poison, and Scarlet Rot.
Take her down, and you’ll get 13,000 Runes, aGolden Rune,and aMemory Stone. Memory Stones allow for more Memory Slots and, therefore, more sorceries and incantations. Golden Runes, meanwhile, are simple consumables that bestow 200 Runes on use.
Primeval Sorcerer Azul sits north of the village, waiting to give you theComet Azur sorcery inElden Ring. This is a powerful sorcery and essential to completing Sellen’s story. This isone of the best sorceries in the gameand has the potential to one-shot many enemies with the right build.
