Consider: the premise ofStar Trek: Lower Deckshas a relatively limited life span, becausea series about junior officers in Starfleet only has a few years, at best, beforeLower Decks' main characters are promoted out of the concept. While it might be possible to cycle in a"new class", with our current faves in mentorship roles, the point is that we’re already invested inStar Trek: Lower Decks’characters. We want to see Lieutenants Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), D’Vana Tendi (Noël Wells), and Samanthan Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) grow into the people they’re becoming. Why not just renewStar Trek: Lower Deckswith a new name?
Star Trek: Lower Decks' humor will no doubt continue even if the show doesn’t, because Tawny Newsome remains part of theStar Trekfamily as a writer onStar Trek: Starfleet Academy.
