First showing upInvincible #44, Anissa is a Viltrumite warrior who is sent to Earth to check Mark’s progress in preparing for invasion. However, she becomes much more infamous with fans later in the run.

After the Viltrumite War arc of the comics, Anissa eventually joins with Nolan, whom she and other Viltrumites view as their new emperor. However, she also begins to display an increasing attraction to Mark, eventually sexually assaulting him. The event is incredibly traumatic for Mark, who spends much of Invincible’s later issues haunted by the rape.
It’s revealed after a five-year time skip that Anissa had Mark’s son, Marky, and has been working to earn redemption for her actions as a Viltrumite soldier. Though Nolan encourages Mark to forgive her, she is nonetheless killed by Mark’s then-wife, Atom Eve.
