However, amid all these exciting adventures isa story that could have huge ramifications for the DC Universe.

The epic sage Kneel Before Zod by Joe Casey and Dan McDaid continues with its exciting eighth issue. General Zod has already been through the wringer, but his trials are far from over. August’s issue will see the iconic Superman foecome face-to-face with the master of fear and primary Green Lantern antagonist, Thaal Sinestro. The solicitation hypes the coming brawl by describing the “cosmic wildfire” that burns in both of their hearts as the two face off in their devastating battle.
‘Devastating’ may be selling it short. The solicitation describes how the two’s incensed match against one another isn’t just going to put both sides at risk, it could ultimately put the entire DC Universe in danger. Though Sinestro isn’t previewed on the issue’s cover art, fans can see justhow intense Zod’s rage burns as he flies through space, unleashing his heat vision out into the DC Universe. Zod is shown as a man with nothing to lose, a danger to himself and the world around him.
Zod and Sinestro are Both at the Lowest Point in Their Lives
It’s no wonder that General Zod and Sinestro have given into rage over everything else as both men have had nearly everything they cared about taken from them. In Sinestro’s case, he lost the Corps he founded after it was destroyed as part of a conspiracy by Lord Premier Thaaros to seize control of the Emotional Spectrum. Sinestro wound up stuck on Earth with absolutely no way to get back to Korugar. However,after an encounter with Green Lantern, Sinestro managed to master a new light.

Instead of fear, Sinestro tapped into the Red Light of Rage and found himself easily adapting to the intense emotion and its volatile light. Satisfied that he now possessed power again, Sinestro ventured out into the universe to seek vengeance on the one who destroyed the Sinestro Corps Central Power Battery. But Sinestro’s story is nothing compared to Zod’s whose recent troubles began after he attempted to revive the bottled city of Kandor. Unfortunately,a spat with his son would lead to Zod’s ultimate downfall.
Zod exiled his son Lor-Zod after he questioned his father’s authority. Unfortunately, while out in the universe, Lor-Zod was kidnapped by a pack of Khunds and he informed on his father’s work on New Kandor in exchange for being let go. The Khunds attacked New Kandor and killed General Zod’s wife Ursa. The attack destroyed Zod’s work and shattered what was left of his family. With nothing else to lose,General Zod abandoned New Kandor to get revenge on everyone who destroyed his life.
What’s Driving the Fight Between Zod and Sinestro (And What Will Come From It)?
General Zod and Sinestro are on two completely different paths at the moment. Zod is forming a new legion of warriors while Sinestro is rebuilding his home planet. So what could possibly put them in conflict with one another? The answer is each of their sons, who have formed a surprising and unlikely friendship. While exploring the universe, Lor-Zod’s ship was stolen by Kong, a Korugarian boy claiming to be Sinestro’s child. After a misadventure involving a space whale,the two have wound up on New Korugar under Sinestro’s protection.
Sinestro potentially abandoned Korg and now has every reason to protect his flesh and blood.
Zod has nothing to live for but revenge now and while he’s already taken care of the Khunds who invaded New Kandor, he’s still got a bone to pick with his son, Lor-Zod. Given that Zod has already shown a willingness to hurt his own flesh and blood before, it’s not unreasonable to think Zod’s going to track down Lor-Zod looking to get his pound of flesh. Of course, if the boysarestill on New Korugar,then that’s seriously going to enrage Sinestro, who doesn’t take kindly to threats to his planet.
It’s interesting that the solicitation mentions “sins of the fathers”. Zod cast out his son and it resulted in Zod losing everything. Sinestro potentially abandoned Korg and now has every reason to protect his flesh and blood. Both men’s lives are changing by the presence of their family and it’s causing them to head straight into a huge confrontation. Between Zod’s Kryptonian strength and Sinestro’s new rage-fueled powers,these two are getting into the biggest fight the DC Universe has ever seen, and who knows how that will shake out?
Zod and Sinestro’s Fight is Going to Have Drastic Effects on the DC Universe
Zod is seeing red and there’s little that could stop him. A fight between these two titans could result in anything. New Korugar could wind up being destroyed or even one or both of the Sinister Sons could wind up getting killed. With both Sinestro and Zod losing themselves to rage, it’s hard to say how things are going to end up. The only thing that’s for sure is that this far out in space, there’s nothing theJustice Leaguecan do to stop this upcoming fight.
