What Roles Has Ross Marquand Played In The MCU & Where Could He Appear Next?

Marquand was able to take over the role of Red Skull from Weaving because the latter opted not to return. As Weaving explained toTime Outin 2020, it was due to the amount of money he was offered to reprise the villain role in bothAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgamewas less than what he earned forThe First Avenger. He said Marvel’s reasoning was,“It’s just a voice job, it’s not a big deal.”Marquand, who’s famous for his impressions, ultimately landed the role.

In addition to Red Skull, Marquan also took over the role of Ultron inWhat If…?season 1 in lieu of James Spader’s return as theAvengers: Age of Ultronvillain. Then, the actor reprised the role of Ultron to voice the successful Ultron drones of Earth-838 during 2022’sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marquand later voiced Doctor Doom inX-Men ‘97season 1’s three-part finale, but is perhaps better known asthe new voice of Professor X, who was originally voiced by Cedric Smith inX-Men: The Animated Series.

Ross Marquand also briefly voiced Apocalypse inX-Men ‘97season 1’s finale, and will presumably return as the legendary X-Men villain in the upcoming second season.

Marquand will reprise the role of Professor X, the leader of the X-Men, inMarvel Animation’s upcomingX-Men ‘97season 2, and presumably in the third season, which is currently in development. It’s also possible that Marquand could take on more voice roles inWhat If…?, as season 3 will release on Disney+ in the future. Since Marquand briefly voiced Doctor Doom inX-Men ‘97season 1, he could portray the iconic Marvel villain in live-action, or a variant of him, perhaps setting up the veteranMCUactor for a much larger role in the franchise’s future.
