Although “love at first sight” is one of the oldest K-drama tropes,Gyeongseong Creaturedoes not give its main couple enough space before Tae-sang and Chae-ok start to declare their love for each other and put their lives on life for one another. Shortly after Tae-sang met Chae-ok, the former was already being questioned about whether he was in love.

Likewise, while Park Seo-joo is said to be playing “Ho-jae” inGyeongseong Creatureseason 2, this may be Tae-sang’s new identity in the 21st century. Now living in a much different world from when they first met each other,Gyeongseong Creature’s lead couple can fall in love again and reexperience their relationship.
Park Seo-joon’s Tae-sang Can Be An Even Better Character In A Modern Setting
Tae-sang is a tragic character who wants to survive no matter what
Jang Tae-sang did not become an instant fan favorite like otherPark Seo-joon characters.Gyeongseong Creaturestruggled regarding whether Tae-sang should be a tragic or a comic character, a balance that may be better achieved in season 2. It’s important to notice that, for now, Park Seo-joon has been confirmed to be playing “Ho-jae” inGyeongseong Creatureseason 2.Ho-jae appeared inGyeongseong Creature’s ending credits scene, during which the series shockingly jumped 80 years into the future. Ho-jae may be a descendant of Tae-sang, but he can also be Tae-sang’s new identity.
Tae-sang’s selfishness and wish to survive no matter what can gain a whole new meaning now that he has presumably lived for over 100 years.
Assuming that Tae-sang drank the contaminated glass of water in season 1, part 1’s finale, the character may have gone through some sort of transformation and now ages much slower. This would explain why Tae-sang is still alive in 2024. Regardless, Park Seo-joon playing Tae-sang in a modern setting will allow the actor to portray a new side of the character. Tae-sang’s selfishness and wish to survive no matter what can gain a whole new meaning now that he has presumably lived for over 100 years. A modern setting also means Tae-sang’s humor can work better.
Gyeongseong Creature Season 2’s Pacing Can Be Much Better Than Season 1’s
Gyeongseong Creature 2 is already full of mysteries and burning questions
Perhapsthe biggest problem withGyeongseong Creatureseason 1 was the pacing, especially from the first batch of episodes. It takes a while before the show gets going, a problem that season 2 will likely not have. Whereas season 1 tried to slowly set up the mystery of what was happening in Gyeongseong, season 2 already sounds exciting due to its new setting. Even if the show does not immediately explain how Chae-ok and Tae-sang are alive eight decades later, this mystery itself should be enough to keep things interesting.
