Jagged Edge Productions' Twisted Childhood Universe is set to converge in 2025 with the release of an epic horror crossover known asPoohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Spearheaded by the independent horror film production company’s newfound mascot, Winnie-the-Pooh,Monsters Assembleaims to bring together all the blood-soaked villains from films likeWinnie-the-Pooh: Blood and HoneyandBambi: The Reckoninginto one massive crossover event. Though the franchise is only a few years old, the “Poohniverse” is already one of the most ambitious ideas in recent horror history, aping the success of tentpoles like the MCU.

The vision for the Twisted Childhood Universe was launched in 2023 withWinnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which reimagined A.A. Milne’s beloved childhood character as a bloodthirsty slasher. The concept of Jagged Edge’s entire production model is rather simple, and the Twisted Childhood Universe simply takes classic children’sI.P. in the public domainand turns them into horror movies. The aforementionedBlood and Honeywas a surprise box-office smash, and the indie company quickly green-lit a ton of similar projects.Poohniverse: Monsters Assemblewill arrive just two years after the franchise debuted, and could be the capper on the entire Twisted Childhood Universe.

Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble Latest News

A Release Window Is Teased

As the Twisted Childhood Universe continues to expand with the recently-announcedAlice in Wonderlandfilm, the latest news confirmsthe release window forPoohniverse: Monsters Assemble. Producer, director, and actor Scott Chambers opened up about the timeline for the upcoming monster mash movie, and he cast a somewhat wide net when it came to premiering the film. The plan is still to shoot the movie during the summer of 2025, and the goal is to release the film in Octoberof the same year. However, that window is flexible enough to stretch to early 2026should there be delays.

This represents a bit of a departure from the usual Hollywood structure of industrialized filmmaking in which every minute is carefully timed out for maximum efficiency. While delays on big-budget movies do happen, there’s rarely this level of flexibility when it comes to a release window.

Read Chambers' comments here:

I very much plan on shooting this summer, and it just depends. If we’re able to turn it around and release it for the Halloween period of 2025, I will definitely do that. I don’t want to rush it because I’m aware that the fans of this stuff that we are doing, their expectations are quite high. So I don’t want to just smash it out and that everyone’s disappointed. I am going to take time with it, but I never work slow anyway. I’m not used to doing that. So you’ll get it quick.

I feel like at the moment where we stand, the time period for this coming out would be like Halloween 2025. But if we miss that, it’ll probably be the first quarter of 2026, so it won’t be far off it.

Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble Story Details

Pooh & His Evil Pals Team Up

Unlike theAvengersmovies which see the heroes come together to fight evil,Poohniverse: Monsters Assembleis going to be the exact opposite. While specifics are still being kept under wraps,Monsters Assemblewill do just that by bringing together the twisted versions of Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and even Mary Poppins. Though the band of slashers will likely team up, some friction within the group is also promised, meaning a few monsters might tussle as well.

Interestingly, several of the promised villains haven’t been introduced into the Twisted Childhood Universe yet, including the Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty, and it will likely take some creative storytelling to shoehorn them in. Though a Sleeping Beauty movie is promised in the future, it won’t likely come out beforePoohniverse: Monsters Assemble. How the heroes like Christopher Robin and Xana fit into the story also hasn’t been revealed yet.
