With news thatThe Division 3is in development, it’s understandable that some fans of Ubisoft’s third-person shooter franchise may have overlooked an upcoming spinoff that’s set to launch sometime this year. The Division Resurgenceis a free-to-play mobile entry in the series that will bring all of the same thrills and kills to a much smaller screen. While you’re waiting for this next outing (and all of the loot waiting within), take a look at what we know so far aboutThe Division Resurgence.
Release date
The Division Resurgencedoes not have an exact release date quite yet. The game has been delayed multiple times, but Ubisoft has stated that players can now expect to get their hands on it at some point in late 2024.
It’s likely we’ll at least get some type of news on the game and its current release window at Ubisoft Forward 2024 on June 10, but only time will tell.
As it’s strictly a mobile game,The Division Resurgencewill launch on iOS and Android. While it’s always possible that a mobile game will receive a PC or console port at some point, we wouldn’t recommend getting your hopes up. WithThe Division 3set to be the next big drop in the franchise for those platforms, Ubisoft likely wouldn’t want such a similar title competing in that space.
Multiplayer
As expected,The Division Resurgencewill feature both PVE and PVP multiplayer. There will be no shortage of loot for everyone to work toward together on missions, but that’s not all that is in store for fans. Unlike the previous two games, where the PvEvP area was open for players to enter and leave at will,The Division Resurgence‘s Dark Zone is session-based. This means you’ll have to queue up and enter the area with 19 other players to see who will extract with the best loot — and who will be left wanting.
The Division Resurgencehas received a few trailers showing off some of its gameplay and features. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but the trailers have at least proven that the experience players are used to will be alive and well even in a mobile-only format.
The game’s first trailer showcased a brief glimpse at gameplay and a streamlined UI that should assist with the game’s mobile limitations.
Meanwhile, another trailer has given us a look at the Dark Zone inThe Division Resurgence, an area of the map that most players will recognize as a location that blends tense PVE and PVP combat.
SinceThe Division Resurgenceis free to play, you don’t really need to preorder the game in the traditional sense. However, you can register forThe Division Resurgenceclosed beta on the game’sofficial website.
