Trainwreck claims Twitch CEO knows the platform is “flooded” with viewbots

Trainwreck says Twitch CEO Dan Clancy is well aware of a major viewbot problem on the platform and refuses to address it.

Viewbotting has been a hot topic in the streaming community for years now, with some top creators, such asN3on, artificially boosting their viewership numbers.

Now Trainwreck, one of the loudest voices about the viewbotting issue, is claiming that 90% of English Twitch streamers are using viewbots – and he says the site’s staff is letting it happen.

Trainwreck warns Twitch will start an ‘adpocalypse’ if it doesn’t deal with viewbots

Speaking with Kick execs for an episode ofKick Talk, Train claimed that Twitch has a much bigger viewbotting issue than other platforms, and it could cause an industry-wide ‘adpocalypse.’

“As the anti-viewbotting preacher for the last five years, let me tell you this: Twitch’s viewbotting is far worse. Not only proportionately, but also far, far worse. Of the English speaking category, 90 out of 100 are viewbotting.”

This echoed comments Train has made before, such as remarks that Twitch has the“number one” viewbotted streamer. He also alleged that some creators arepaying $20K a week for viewbots.

“The entire site is f**king botted,” Train continued. “BecauseTwitchhas gained all this credibility over the years, people just turn a blind eye to the incessant, disgusting amount of viewbotting going on over there. People give credibility and think that’s just normal viewership.”

According to Train, this is a problem that Twitch’s higher-ups know about, but they supposedly haven’t done anything about it.

“Twitch has a terrible viewership problem and I know Dan Clancy (the site’s CEO) is completely aware of it,” he claimed. “Will Twitch, like Kick has done, become aware of the viewbotting problem, and actually release programs that deter it? That’s the question.”

Furthermore, Train warned that if Twitch allows this to continue, the streaming world will suffer its own ‘adpocalypse’ and there will be “dark times” ahead.

“Right now, all the viewership that they’re padding looks good. The advertisers are paying for it. I’m hoping they step back and say ‘this isn’t real. At some point it’s going to implode and it’s going to be bad for the industry. Let us step back and deter some of this bullsh*t.’ If that happens, it’s going to be good for everyone.”

Back in March, Twitch indefinitely banned a streamer after sheaccidentally exposed her viewbotson a live broadcast. The incident went viral and sparked a wider discussion about viewbots in the community.

In April, the debate got heated after xQcaccused Kai Cenat’s friends, Rakai and Reggie, of viewbotting after they went from 800 viewers to 30,000 viewers overnight.
